Before the Singapore Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong’s, recent trip to Australia, my daughter’s teacher encouraged her to write to Mr Lee suggesting things he could do in Australia. Keep in mind, the aim of his trip was to forge a series of new agreements between the two countries.
“What did you write in your letter?” I asked her.
“That he should snorkel at the barrier reef.”
I’m not sure that’s what her teacher had in mind. Of course, one could argue that my daughter was promoting Australian tourism.
